There Be (There is / There are)

'There is' e 'There are' são usados para indicar a existência de algo. São equivalentes ao 'há' ou 'tem' do português.

Explicação

Usamos 'there is' (there's) com substantivos no singular e incontáveis, e 'there are' com plurais. Forma negativa: 'there isn't' / 'there aren't'. Forma interrogativa: 'Is there...?' / 'Are there...?'. Com 'any' em perguntas e negativas: 'Is there any milk?' / 'There isn't any milk.' / 'There are some apples.' (afirmativo) vs 'Are there any apples?' (pergunta).

💡 There is ≠ It is: 'There is a cat.' (existe um gato) vs 'It is a cat.' (isso é um gato). 'There' introduz algo novo; 'it' se refere a algo já mencionado.
